Dear Future Home-Buyers and Renters,

We are writing on the behalf of Dot Salvo, who helped us locate an apartment to rent earlier this summer. We were in a bit of a unique situation seeing as neither my fiancee or myself were actually living near Long island when we were trying to locate a home, and we have two large breed dogs which always makes finding a rental a sticky situation. We had to find the perfect apartment in a very short amount of time, and I am the first one to admit that my fiancee and I are kind of picky.

Dot handled our situation perfectly, finding several houses that met our requirements and spending the entire day with me to look at all of them. She did not get the least bit discouraged when none of them worked....she also never hesitated when Mike e-mailed her a list of 30 other houses he found on the web, diligently looking through each one, calling owners and telling us what she thought. She even called owners who wouldn't allow pets and explained our situation to them, getting several of them to allow us our large, well-behaved dogs.

We ended up finding the perfect apartment at the last minute (three days before the move from Illinois). Dot always worked extremely hard on our behalf to ensure that everything was perfect for us. She even attempted to help move a couch up the apartment stairs (in a dress) when she heard that I was upset we weren't able to get it to fit. That is some serious dedication.

If our future path lies in buying a home on Long Island, we will definitely be contacting Dot.  She was a true ally within the real estate craziness.  She completely understood our situation, never once made us feel rushed to make a decision, had complete competence in her abilities, and did not back down when trying to help us make a deal.

“Dot Salvo is a relentless pursuer when it comes to getting the impossible done. The Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ was in desperate need of a method of removing rust stains from 10 miles of aluminum walkway. She had nothing to do with causing the problem, but everything to do with finding a solution. The rust was a result of a sub-contractor's careless construction practices when constructing the steel superstructure. There were two options: clean it or replace the entire decking surface at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The recommended cleaning procedure was to use an acid etch which would cause further damage to the adjacent surfaces. Treating the problem as though it was her money, Dot looked for a better solution. Her research led her to Racine Industries, a manufacture of carpet cleaning materials. Racine makes a specially designed machine and cleaning material for carpet which could remove and absorb the rust without suffering damage to adjacent facilities. Dot's ingenuity was able to visualize its use for the Red Bull application. As a result, the arena's decking was clean and bright without destroying adjacent surfaces and at a small fraction of the cost of replacement. Dot oversaw the entire process which involved setting up the test, securing the quotes to insure competitve pricing, coordinating the delivery of the machines and the work force and routine auditing of the process to make sure it was kept on-track.
